Insurance

All YFU students coming to the U.S. are required to carry insurance for the duration of their stay. The majority of students are insured through Dr. Walter. Some students are insured through their YFU National Office’s preferred plan, or through scholarship-specific insurance. Please see below to determine which plan applies to your situation.

The Dr. Walters policy is administered by Global Excel in the US. Global Excel can be reached at 877.835.6243 or drwalterclaims@globalexcel.comStudents and host families should contact Global Excel before a medical visit and provide GE with the medical provider’s contact information. Global Excel will contact the provider and attempt to set up direct, cashless billing services. If a provider refuses to see a student, please ask the provider to call 877.835.6243.

ASPE PLAN FOR CONGRESS-BUNDESTAG (CBYX), FUTURE LEADERS EXCHANGE (FLEX) & YOUTH EXCHANGE AND STUDY (YES) STUDENTS

CBYX, FLEX and YES students are enrolled in the ASPE insurance plan provided by the U.S. Department of State. The plan is administered by Seven Corners. All students receive temporary ID cards and plan materials prior to departure for the USA. CBYX, FLEX and YES students will receive their official ID cards and plan materials in a mailing from YFU USA shortly after their arrival.

Each student has a different policy number beginning with “PD.” This can be found on the student’s insurance card/coverage document and is referred to as “MyPlan ID” or “ID#.”

  • Each student has a different policy number that begins with “TAS230.” The student’s policy number can be found on their insurance card.
  • Students are expected to pay “smaller” medical costs upfront and submit a claim for reimbursement. Smaller costs are defined as up to 250 Euros.
  • If higher costs are expected (hospital and/or the student is referred to a specialist), the student must call the alarm center and the costs can be paid directly to the provider. The alarm center can be reached at: +31 20 59 29 187.
