Independence Community College is located in southeast Kansas, and has been ranked as one of the Top 25 “Best Community Colleges in America” as well as number one in the “Best Community Colleges in Kansas.” ICC is also noted for being the most successful community college in the State of Kansas for producing graduates among transfer students at four-year institutions.

Independence Community College is a small campus, because it’s smaller ICC can offer one-on-one relationships with its students. ICC’s student to teacher ratio is smaller than universities and has an international student advisor that works specifically with international students.
Every fall, the campus celebrates the diversity and culture of the international students at ICC with the International Flag Day event. The ceremony features speakers from the college, community and state level public officials, all officially welcoming the students to campus. The celebration feautres the raising of the flags, which remain flying throughout the year, and an international luncheon with select cuisine from various countries.

+University Transfer
In addition to the general articulation set forth by the Kansas Board of Regents between community colleges and the Kansas Regent Universities, ICC has articulation agreements with multiple universities for transfer of certain associate degree programs into specific baccalaureate degrees and programs.

Fab Lab ICC within the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship
ICC students are fortunate to have access to the Fab Lab on campus, which is a center for innovation and entrepreneurship that houses different manufacturing and digital fabrication equipment that students and community members can use to create projects. For example, the Fab Lab offers a custom guitar fabrication class in which students get to make their own electric guitar. ICC is the only community college in the state of Kansas that has a space like it!
